NATIVE WILDLIFE RESCUE: 22nd MAY 2015
Meet Mama, a brave swift who stayed behind for her babies despite the surrounding danger!
When a roof was under renovation, the site workers discovered several bird nest cups. When we arrived to see how we could assist, most of the adult birds flew away. We carefully examined the nest cups to make sure that they were empty, and found Mama huddling up with her chicks. Her bravery is humbling. We reinforced her nest cup to give them a chance to stay in their home, and Mama has been tending to her chicks since then. We hope that her chicks fledge soon, to join the flock.
We would like to take this opportunity to request all property owners to do a check of their premises for any wild animals who may be taking shelter before embarking on renovation exercises. You can call ACRES for advice if you do find any animals.
And do remember to call the ACRES 24-hour Wildlife Rescue Hotline at 97837782 if you spot any wild animals in Singapore who may need some help.
