Cows Birthday Gift Isa Line

A line?
YES, a line!!
Cow went for his check-up today and the vet was delighted!! The ulcer has miraculously shrunk until it’s only “a line” now!! Of course I’m totally delightfully flabbergasted. The vet had already expected this since the last visit. Apparently, he viewed the “infection” to be actually “good” because it meant that something was happening.
Non-healing corneal ulcers are very common in cats, I read. This is where nothing happens and that’s not good.
For Cow’s case, this ulcer had been dormant for quite long, with nothing happening at all. Then, following the debridement, we saw things happening. From a big ulcer (bigger than expected because of the underlying flapping skin), it became half the size, then one-third and today…it’s just a line!!
Happy Birthday, Cow Mau!!
Cow, Bunny and Pole turned nine yesterday. They were rescued at 2 days’ old on Mother’s Day in 2006.
The vet followed a “first do no harm” principle where after the debridement, we let the body heal itself, as that’s the natural tendency of the body. No medications at all, just flushing with sterile saline.
Flushing became a little difficult in the past week as Cow was very, very fierce. Maybe that’s how it got infected. But look…the infection healed so fast! It’s only been 3 days!
The vet says to continue the Gentamycin eyedrops 3 days post-healing.
Oooh….we shall see Cow’s beautiful eyes again!
Happy Birthday, Bunny and Pole!!
Oh oh…an impending fight.
Stop it, you two!!
Here we go again…
