Youve often seen and heard of our Singapore monkeys making their presence known at urbanised areas, forest edges and the outskirts of nature reserves. But how many of you have seen them at the mangroves?
This picture was captured in Ponggol, where a small troop of macaques were seen feeding at the mangroves. They spent their time foraging for crabs, and have also been seen eating frogs, shrimp and octopus. In addition, the younger individuals enjoy splashing in the mud and socialising with the rest of their family members.
ACRES has been working closely with the residents in Ponggol, and they have been sharing their interesting observations with us. For example, the macaques were seen hiding in the mangroves when they spotted one of their natural predators a white-bellied sea eagle circling in the sky above!
Got an interesting picture or observation of macaques? Share it with us and let us all learn more about the secret lives of our Singapore monkeys! You can email us at info@acres.org.sg , or post your comments and photos below!
