Tassa Is One Of The Most Heart-Breaking Cases We Have Ever Encountered

A Thai lady found Tassa in a horrifically emaciated state, running around the beach. She tried to get close but Tassa took off in terror. When the lady called us, Animal Rescue Officer Khun Nok was dispatched to the scene. Tassa was so frightened she needed to be darted in order to be caught.

Once she was examined by our vets, the horror of Tassas ordeal became obvious. A fish hook was caught in her mouth. No doubt, she had found a dead fish on the beach and her attempts to eat it had led to this.

The fishhook would have prevented Tassa from being able to eat any other food and, from her emaciated state, we estimate it has been in her mouth for about 3 weeks. Although it has now been successfully removed, Tassas life still hangs in the balance.

There is a risk Tassa could develop re-feeding syndrome, a potentially fatal condition that occurs when dogs have been starved for a long time. We are introducing small amounts of food very slowly to prevent this.

Tassa is one of hundreds of emergency cases we are currently caring for, and we will update you on her condition as soon as we can.

Meanwhile, please help us save her life. CLICK THIS LINK to become an Angel for Dogs like Tassa today: http://bit.ly/Save_Tassa
