Cats And Their (trusted) Water Sources
Tweet |
Chen Chen sent me this highly informative book, Catification, and I came across a most interesting fact, which, again, proves just how intelligent cats are (compared to lesser beings like us humans):
Here’s a quote from page 239:
Did you know that it’s better to place your cat’s water bowl far away from their food bowl? In nature, cats instinctively do not drink water that is near a food source because there is a chance that the water could be contaminated. This is also why some cats prefer to drink moving water, like from a fountain or from the faucet. Moving water is less likely to be contaminated than stagnant water. Try adding a water fountain, or at least move your cat’s water dish to another area that’s away from her food bowl. You might find that she drinks more water!
I’ve been doing that all my life and it has taken you THIS long to find out why?
Tsk, tsk, tsk…
