KEEP THEM WILD AND FREE: HELP US WIPE OUT WILDLIFE CRIME

Which of the animals listed below cannot legally be sold and kept as pets in Singapore?

Scroll down for the answer!

The selling and keeping of most wild animals is a crime in Singapore. Report the illicit sale and keeping of wild animals to ACRES by calling our Wildlife Crime Hotline at 97837782, or sending an e-mail to info@acres.org.sg.

Answer:

1 – Hedgehog

3 – Sugar glider

6 – Ornate horn frog a.k.a Packman frog

7 – Tarantula

8 – Prairie dog

It is legal to keep chinchillas (2), gerbils (4), green tree frogs, (5) and guinea pigs (9). However, ACRES still advises against the keeping of wild (versus domesticated) animals as pets, even if it is legal (as in the case of the green tree frog), because of their wild nature and the fact that it is impossible to recreate their natural wild habitats in our homes.
