Found, fostered, adopted:

DEXTER, MOUSE, ROXY and SOX, a quartet of kittens

These four kittens were found at Tuas Road on 5 December 2014. We took in all four, along with their mother, in view of the traffic conditions of the area where they were found. Merely about two weeks old by the time the kittens could be weaned from their mother, and following our vets clearance, they were up for their fostering phase.

We sought the kind help of our regular foster parent, Ms Sandra Matthews, who warmly offered to foster the entire quartet. We are greatly indebted to Sandra and her family for having so generously given of their time, devoting rigorous care and attention to feeding and cleaning of the kittens, ensuring their good health and development. The quartet spent a good two months at their foster home before being returned to SPCA to be ready for adoption. (Their mother, later named Fajita, in the meantime underwent sterilisation as well as vaccinations, and was also put up for adoption.)

The ending was a rosy one for mother cat and all her kittens. All of them found adoptive families, albeit with each of them going to different forever homes from the others. Our unsung heroes, comprising both foster and adoptive families, have saved the cats, and the day! What a Happy Ending!

Fostering an animal can be a wonderful bonding experience for you and your family. The rewards are intangible, as you would be actually saving a life and making a difference. By helping to foster animals until space becomes available in our shelter and the animals become older and better able to cope with kennel life, you are helping us save more lives. If you’re at least 18 years, and are ready to be a foster parent, come join us on our Foster Care programme! You would be nurturing a life in its most formative years of development!
