SURGERY HELPS MOTHER DOG DELIVER HEALTHY PUPS!

Rescuer Tracie Mitchum of South Carolina has lots of little reasons to smile. These pups and their mom were saved in an incredible last-minute intervention. It began a couple months back when Tracie got a call from her veterinarian about an urgent case.

“My vet called me saying there was a dog there who had been in labor for 2 days and the owners were going to take her home to die because they didn�t want to pay the $500 surgery,” Tracie said. “The vet said he knew it was a long shot but asked if I could help. I said that if the family spayed the mother dog, I�d cover the surgery.”

While it’s easy to condemn a family for not having the funds or compassion to help the mama dog, what’s most important is that the approach to this crisis was both positive & strategic. In fact, the mother dog was surrendered and now has been adopted to a new family. She will get to see her pups frequently as they’ll all be attending doggie daycare together!

Tracie sent us this adorable photo update and said, “Your aid has allowed me to help so many animals. I�m so grateful for Harmony Fund.”
