Found barely alive on a roadside, Mila was rescued just in time. Weighing only 3.6kg, she was emaciated, blind in 1 eye and suffering from fungal infection of the skin. Her face, neck and back were covered with sores. She also has a slightly crooked jaw and several missing teeth. Her back was hunched with front legs bent outwards – this posture is typically seen in dogs that have been confined in tiny cages their entire lives. Such dogs usually have minimal socialization with humans and other dogs and unfortunately, Mila is one of them. The first couple of days, she kept trembling and preferred to curl up in her cage. Every time she was touched, she would cringe back in fear, expecting to be hit.

Her health issues did not stop there. A blood test revealed she has tick fever which caused her liver and spleen to be enlarged. Her kidney function test did not show good results either. Fortunately, Mila is a survivor. Her fighting spirit helped her survive the ordeal and today, she has put on the much-needed weight and weighs a healthy 5.7kg. She has a good appetite and is not choosy of her food.

Slowly but surely, Mila’s trust in humans is being restored. She now loves to be petted even by strangers. She does not bite nor show any signs of aggression, and is not afraid of loud noises. However, she is not toilet-trained yet and does have some separation anxiety issues, but these traits can be worked on as Mila is quite intelligent.

If you have a heart big enough to include Mila in your life, please call 016-4818396 after 5pm or WhatsApp anytime.

SPCA Seberang Perai

The SPCA Seberang Perai is a society registered in September 2005. Our primary aim is to reduce the population of stray animals or possibly a zero stray population in a humane manner. With lesser strays or no strays at all, the loving value of animals will be greatly increased and you can be sure that humans will shower more love for their pets and be responsible pet owners. The problem should not only be shouldered by our Society as the public must also understand the urgent need to control the pet population and give their whole-hearted support to all our projects for the undertaking to be successful. Then we will achieve a clean and hygienic environment for the community. As a no killing organization, we are embarking on a two-prong approach towards the problem i.e public education and sterilization of the stray animals.
