Emergency Help to Protect Dogs from Bounty Hunters with Blow Darts
_______________________________________________
Last night, we received a distress call from Sandra Husejnovic in Sarajevo. She was distraught after an attack by local bounty hunters – dog hunters – who were using a blow dart to take down street dogs.
“My beautiful Lajka was the first target of Shinters yesterday, God looked at her because she managed to escape in time. She hid far away. I tried to find her a half hour, my soul was broken by the fear that they killed her, but she was safe.”
But one of the other dogs Sanda cares for was hit by a dart and Sandra herself was injured trying to hold the men back. In the end she was able to prevent them from taking any of the neighborhood dogs away and Sandra rushed to the veterinarian with Ali who had been hit.
She doesn’t know exactly what is in the blow darts (illegal) but said, “They restrain the dogs with this substance so the dogs can hardly breathe and die almost immediately. What is used is very deadly. When I saw Ali yesterday, I nearly fainted because I thought he would die immediately. The vet was shocked.”
Sandra asked for help to immediately put the local dogs (whom she feeds daily) into protective care.
“I beg you with all my soul, please help,” Sandra said. “They will be back to kill the dogs.”
We’ve helped with a donation to put the dogs into paid foster care. They are now safe and Sandra’s photos can be presented to authorities.
“This is the biggest donation of our life and now all my dogs will be protected,” Sandra said. “The dogs are the beings who I love the most, beings with whom I spend most of my time. They are great fighters, gentle but strong. Every day they teach me of courage, tenacity and fighting spirit .. I love them to infinity.”
