SMILE! ALIEN AND HERSHEY STRIKE A POSE
A few weeks ago, we introduced Alien – a Hermanns tortoise to another tortoise, Hershey. Despite the size difference, Alien was not pleased by Hersheys presence and started to show territorial behaviour by shell-ramming Hershey. Alien has since calmed down and learnt to co-exist with Hershey.
Here they can be seen posing for a photo whilst enjoying their daily feed of greens!
The Hermanns tortoise is native to Southern Europe, where they can be found in Spain and France. They are one of the many species of tortoise exploited for the exotic pet trade.
Hopefully, we will one day see an end to the trade in wild animals as pets, and these tortoises can remain where they belong: in the wild.
