Dogs Trained To Sniff Out Prison Cell Phones
Tweet | ![]() |
A mobile phone gives off a powerful, metallic reek. Both the United States and the United Kingdom are now training search dogs to search specifically for phones smuggled into prisons. These sniffer dogs have found them in lavatory U-bends, TV backs, trainer soles and books. Electrical detectors can reveal if a phone is in an area, but a dog can pinpoint its exact location even if its been switched off for a month.
This story brilliantly highlights a couple of points: First, dogs’ ultra-sensitive noses can pick up scents that ours cannot whether it’s the trail of a missing person, narcotics, or even mobile phones. Second, working sniffer dogs do jobs like this because it’s fun for them; humans can’t force them to sniff or trail if they don’t want to. That said, they are working in dangerous circumstances. Let’s give a heartfelt salute to the dogs who work to keep us safer. They’ve earned it!
Are you thinking what we’re thinking? If a dog can find a mobile phone hidden inside a trainer sole, he could probably find the one you’ve misplaced somewhere but where?? in your home.
Quick! Before you lose your phone again, use it to search PetFinder.my’s mobile app for an adoptable dog.
