The Race To Save An Entire Family From Certain Death

Milky-Way, Max-A-Millon, Mugsie and Manny all arrived at our shelter covered in maggot-infested wounds. The pups were just 3 weeks old and had been found by a kind local person who feeds the stray dogs in his community.

Having called our shelter, the person who found the pups began a frantic search for the mother, who was nowhere to be seen. As the search continued, the pups were picked up by our Animal Rescue Officer. Frail and seriously ill, they were raced to our shelter.

Our vets battle every day to save lives in our tiny clinic, which is all that seriously sick and injured dogs have in an emergency. Despite the limited facilities and space, and thanks to support from people like YOU, they were able to get these pups over their infection and fighting for recovery.

As the pups recovered and were fed day and night by one of our volunteers, the desperate search for their mother continued. Eventually, it came to an end.

Our Animal Rescue Officer was woken by a phone call in the middle of the night. The kind person who had found the pups had refused to give up on the search for the mother, getting up at all hours to see if she had returned to look for her babies.

Magdalena had done just that, but her condition horrified the person who found her. An enormous, maggot-infested wound covered her entire head. She was being ravaged by infection and barely able to stand. Despite this, she had come to look for her babies.

Our Animal Rescue Officer left immediately to pick up Magdalena and drove her to our shelter in the middle of the night. It is touch and go if she will make it but our vets are battling to save her. Her pups continue to be cared for by our volunteers as Magdalena is shockingly weak.
