28 MORE ANIMALS TO BE RESCUED FROM WAR IN UKRAINE

Yesterday the FRIEND shelter in Dnepropetrovsk, Ukraine put out a distress call for help in funding the transportation of many dogs and cats in the warzone area of Stahanov. The animals were left behind when humans fled the area or were killed.

“Cease-fire is only in the media,” the shelter’s founder Marina Bolokhovets said. “These animals didn’t eat already for 7 days. Most people left. Animals are closed in kennels. We communicated with people from Stahanov who promised to help and people who deliver humanitarian help agreed to try to get them out but no one will do it for free.”

Harmony Fund and others donated to get the animals out quickly and now we wait for an update.

“I was informed by lady from Stahanov that all the dogs were in bad state because they are terrified,” Marina continues. “She told me when there is shelling all dogs are hiding and crying. So we hope for the best. Now is a bit less shelling so transport must be fine to get out of Stahanov.”

Everyone, please send out positive thoughts today. We hope there will be good news in a day or two and we’ll be able to share photos of the animals as they arrive at FRIEND shelter.

Animal Rescue Chase

The Great Animal Rescue Chase celebrates the art of animal rescue with a worldwide race to rescue one million. It’s a free event, open to all, and is perhaps the only global animal rescue event aimed at helping any animal in distress, anywhere in the world. Our ambition is to create a culture of enthusiasm and pride in animal activism. We believe in teaching, by example, that there is a hero in each of us just waiting to be unleashed. Empowered animal lovers can not only save lives, but build the momentum for powerful animal welfare reform.
