ANIMALS IN THE NEWS: “TIGER SELFIES” BANNED IN NEW YORK CITY!
Did you know that from this month, it is illegal for people in New York to take selfies with big cats? This is great news for the animals, for whom such photography sessions are undoubtedly stressful, and incredibly unnatural. Its not uncommon for photography animals to be drugged and beaten too. And cubs bred for use as “photo props” may be neglected, mistreated and abandoned when they grow up and can no longer be used.
This ban will hopefully make people think twice about whether using wild animals as photo props is acceptable. Can we really justify exploiting animals in this way, just for the sake of a photo?
ACRES continues to urge people to never take their photo with a wild animal.
