SEEKING CONNECTIONS WITH AUTHORITIES IN BOSNIA

It’s a long shot, but we’re hoping that perhaps the power of Facebook will help us make a connection to a person of influence in Bosnia. We’re considering maneuvers to close the Gladno Polje public “shelter” outside Sarajevo that has existed for 3 years.

We’re looking for an individual with strong political influence who may wish to assist us by simply making a couple phone calls inquiries to the municipality that allows this suffering to go on. Political leverage could be instrumental in protecting the dogs and in helping one politician to make a good name for himself in confronting corruption.

The veterinary station �Novi Grad Sarajevo�, owned by the public company Lokom, has offered to take over running of Gladno Polje shelter in Sarajevo, Bosnia Herzegovina. If the authorities of the municipality of Ilidza agree to this, Gladno Polje will then be under the control of the vet Mustafa Mrkulic who is widely known � as well as PC Lokum � as �the worst illegal dog killers in Sarajevo.”

PC Lokom is owned by the municipality of Novi Grad Sarajevo. This company has established a notorious group of dog-catchers known as the �hygiene service�. This is known by activists and rescuers to be a criminal organisation that kills stray dogs as part of money laundering activities – stealing funds that are meant to take dogs off the streets and into dog shelters for care. However, there are in fact no shelters able to take in more dogs, so what happens to the dogs, to the money?

Two hundred dogs live here in very bad conditions, and more are constantly being brought in. Because we don’t wish to needlessly upset all of you with specific details of what goes on here, we will simply say that extreme neglect and cruelty are carried on year-round as a result of significant financially motivated corruption.

Let’s see how far our Facebook network of friends can carry us. Will this lead to a person in Bosnia who can help?
