PROTECT ANIMALS FROM DANGEROUS ARTIC BLAST
Get Animals Indoors Now!
If you live in an area affected by the EXTREME cold that is bringing in windchills of up to – 50 degrees fahrenheit (-45 Celcius) please take fast measures to help the animals around you.
1. FERAL CATS: Add layers of insulation and wind protection to feral cat shelters. Try using microwavable discs or mitten warmers tucked under their bedding. If the shelters are in your yard, consider using a heated pet bed.
2. RABBITS & DOGS: If you have a neighbor who keeps dogs in an outdoor kennel or rabbits in a hutch, please have the courage to talk to them about extra protection from the cold. You may be uncomfortable approaching your neighbor, but frostbite and death are a very real possibility in this weather. In some communities there is legal protection for the animals in such severe cold. As minimum, rabbit hutches can be brought into a garage or shed and large quantities of hay should be added. For dogs, there are heated bed that can be plugged in using an extension cord run into the house and kennels should be completely wind-proofed – including a secure door flap.
Let’s all hope this weather passes quickly.
P.S> Don’t worry. The cat in this photo is not harmed and is simply a pet cat enjoying the snow
