THE MAYOR CAME BACK & BROUGHT FOOD FOR THE DOGS

We’re seeing more positive signs in Nis, Serbia where the 450 dogs at Sasha Pesic’s cage-free sanctuary are looking out on a bright horizon at the dawn of the new year.

Today the mayor visited the shelter, and even brought a few large sacks of food with him. He thanked Sasha for caring for so many former street dogs and reiterated his intention to help the shelter relocate in a way that safeguards the dogs for the long term.

This is a positive sign after such ominous posturing from municipal officials just a few weeks ago. Thanks to all of you, there has been a change in perspective and a nice breeze of cooperation. We’re waiting patiently for concrete agreements regarding the new location of the sanctuary and seeking the city’s help to shoulder the cost of that major undertaking.

For today, we begin 2015 with very warm hearts and a firm belief that the dogs will indeed enjoy another good year.
