HERO SAVED COYOTE TRAPPED IN RISING TIDE

In Florida, a coyote found himself in danger when he became trapped under a private boat dock. After being chased out of one back yard, he was terrified and tried to hide under the dock. Unfortunately, the rising tide threatened to drown him and he simply couldn’t get himself back out.

The water was dipping up against his nose by the time David Hitzig of the Busch Wildlife Sanctuary arrived on scene. David first used a tranquilizer dart to sedate the coyote who was balancing on a beam under the dock. As soon as the coyote went down, David used a net to pull him out from under the dock and to safety on land. Aside from some cuts on his paws, most likely caused by sharp barnacles, the coyote was in good health and released soon afterwards. (Photo: Busch Wildlife Sanctuary)
