Maslinda contacted me yesterday to say two of her newly-rescued kittens were having diarrhoea. I told her not to delay and quickly bring to our vet today. Apparently, she had already brought them to her vet earlier but the diarrhoea did not improve.

So, Maslinda and her student brought the two kittens this morning; Lulu and Mabu. Mabu was very thin but seemed okay, but Lulu looked weak and emaciated.

Maslinda said they started having diarrhoea on Thursday when she gave them small amounts of wetfood. Their vet had dewormed them as well and the diarrhoea started the day after.

 Mabu looked alright.

 The vet examined her thoroughly.

But Lulu was lying lifeless. The vet took one look at her and said, "Oh no, she is already dying...". She listened to her heartbeat and rushed out to get something. Lulu looked lifeless. I went over and placed my hands over her and gave her all the loving-kindness I could. This is how I was taught to help people or animals who are really sick. Give them lots of love and wish them well. It does make a difference to them, whether they survive or they pass on. Passing away surrounded by lots of love is a good way to go. And if by some chance, the person/animal survives, that'll be a bonus.

The vet came back quickly with a syringe and a bottle of liquid (I asked later, it was adrenalin). Lulu's heart had already stopped, actually, but to attempt to revive it, an injection of adrenalin was given directly into the heart to get it pumping again. The vet then administered CPR and even gave something similar to mouth-to-mouth.

Several attempts were made to revive Lulu, but it failed to revive her. Lulu was already in a very weakened state; she was so, so emaciated.

Lulu was gone.

I later got some newspapers and Maslinda wrapped Lulu up. A life is gone. There is no more suffering now. I wished Lulu a good rebirth.

That's the thing with diarrhoea. NEVER delay. But sometimes, even after having done everything possible, the animal still cannot make it, as in the case of Lulu.

Mabu is fine. The vet advised Maslinda on what to do for Mabu. Mabu will go on ID and no milk at all.

Lulu and Mabu's treatment today is subsidised from our funds.

We wish Mabu well, and may she recover soon.
