I was at the vet's in PJ with Citta, and Brownie is boarding there as well. But I was not allowed to see Brownie as that's the clinic's policy (they had closed for the day).
The vet who attended to Brownie said the prognosis is bad. Brownie's white blood count is only 0.8. Anything under 1.0 is very bad.
Brownie is now on drips. There is no force-feeding as it might make the condition even worse.
As I drove home, I checked with our vet and he concurs that force-feeding might be detrimental on the first day of "collapse". The intestines are in bad shape and force-feeding might trigger vomiting which would further stress the dog.
The vet thinks that in Brownie's case, the parvo virus might have already been in his body all the while. What was protecting Brownie could be the mum's breast-milk which has antibodies. Now that Brownie had stopped being breast-fed, the parvo suddenly manifests.
The above is one possible explanation.
We'll never really know, and that's not important right now.
What we ask for is to please say a prayer for Brownie. The poor boy is fighting for his life right now. He needs all the spiritual help he can get from us.
