Winnie contacted me this morning, just before Citta's emergency. Brownie stopped eating yesterday and does not look well at all.

I told Winnie not to delay; Brownie needs a vet's attention. Our vets are closed today, so I told Winnie to take Brownie to the vet in PJ. We will subsidise the treatment.

This is Brownie just before Winnie brought him to the vet's.

Tests were done, and Brownie is diagnosed with parvo virus. It is serious. His white blood count is very low, he is vomiting and has diarrhoea with bloody stools.

Brownie, at the vet's.

I have checked with our panel vet; when Brownie was at the clinic to be vaccinated and his mum, Angel was being spayed, there was no canine parvo case at the clinic at all.

This probably means Brownie could have picked it up somewhere else OR a dog at the clinic may have parvo but has not been detected.

Brownie did stay for at the clinic for about 5 hours with his mum. You'll see why we always tell rescuers NOT to board their dog/cat unnecessarily. It's not that we don't want to pay, it's because we don't want your dog/cat to pick up any germs from the clinic environment. All kinds of animals come to the clinic, some of them may be carrying some germs.

I asked if the vaccination could have triggered the parvo, but the vet said this is highly unlikely.  Another possibility is that Brownie could have had it since birth, but it has been dormant and the stress of the vaccination could trigger it now.

Angel is fine and has not shown any signs of any illness so far.  Brownie is still very young, hence, his immunity is not as good.

Brownie is now on antibiotics and on drips.

We appeal to everyone to please pray for Brownie. He is still a puppy and parvo virus is serious.

Please send healing thoughts to Brownie and pray for his recovery.

Winnie has disinfected her house. She also has two other dogs. Winnie wants to protect Angel so the vet has suggested antibiotics for Angel.
