URGENT CALL FOR ACTION- Stop the Export of Wild-Caught Animals in Zimbabwe to Zoos in China
Posted on behalf of the Asia for Animals Coalition, which ACRES is a member of.
The Zimbabwe Conservation Task Force have released information that 34 baby elephants aged between 2 and 5 years old, 7 lions and 10 sable antelope have been rounded up in Hwange National Park and are due to be shipped to Chinese zoos.
In 2012 four elephant calves were shipped to China, only to be exposed to freezing weather conditions and resulting in the death of one soon after arrival. Subsequently a further two have died due to the inability of the safari parks to meet their most basic needs.
We must do all we can to prevent these animals from leaving their homeland.
