The British Club Magazine in Singapore was offering discounted tickets for members to visit the dolphin enclosure at Resorts World Sentosa and both Oscar (age 11) and Ella (13 years old) took exception to this! Thinking that the British Club’s decision to run this advertisement was based on ignorance, Oscar wrote to the General Manager explaining the cruelty of such treatment of animals, in this case, wild catch dolphins and their on-going torture having to entertain the audiences.

The General Manager took the time to reply, but it was clear that further conversation should be had and so Oscar and Ella made an appointment with the President of the Club, who listened with interest and concern about the wider issues of the dolphins. He was genuinely concerned and said that he would take the matter to the Board.

An excellent outcome of this meeting and subsequent conversations is that the Club will no longer advertise the dolphin facility and they have explained their reasons to RWS as to why they will not be part of encouraging audiences to visit RWS’s dolphin facility. This outcome was welcomed by Ella and Oscar and they are grateful that the Club took the time to listen and understand.
