SOLDIER AND DOG HIT BY ROADSIDE BOMB ARE REUNITED!
Army Specialist Brent Grommet and his bomb detecting dog Matty narrowly escaped death in June 2013 when they were hit by a roadside blast in Afghanistan.
While Grommet was recovering in the hospital, he began submitting paperwork to adopt Matty. It looked like they would become a family- officially- but then the army somehow permitted someone else to adopt Matty.
Ever since then, Grommet has been heartbroken over the loss of his dog Matty. The army wouldn’t reveal who had adopted Matty or where he was. But after a recent series of news reports, all that changed fairly quickly.
North Carolina congressman Richard Hudson located Matty and convinced his adopters to return him to Grommet. They agreed that it was the right thing to do and went about making plans to reunite the soldier and his dog. It was indeed emotional for both of them.
“They went and let him out,” Grommet said to FOX 2 news. “He went as fast as he physically could over to me, about tackled me to the ground and we were just rolling around having a good time.”
