Tell Airlines to Stop Transporting Cetaceans to Marine Parks

There is growing recognition of the role airlines play in permitting the captive cetacean industry to continue and of the severe stress cetaceans suffer from during hours of restricted confinement during air transportation.

Every year, hundreds of wild-caught cetaceans are flown by plane to marine parks around the world.

However, as a result of mounting public opposition to the capture of cetaceans in infamous ‘dolphin hunts’ such as that of Taiji in Japan, an ever-growing number of airline companies have announced their commitment to not transport wild-caught cetaceans, including Lufthansa, Japan Airlines, Thai, Iberia and Emirates, Hong Kong Airlines, British Airways, Virgin, Delta, United and American Airlines.

The Asia for Animals Coalition, which ACRES is proud to be a part of, has written to airlines that have not yet made this pledge, urging them to join this list.
