Special Order: Homesewn Pencil Cases!

In July this year, Yuen Foon asked if my mum could sew pencil cases for her class of 20 students. Yuen Foon would surprise them on World Animal Day (and Children’s Day) in October. And as always, Yuen Foon would give a generous donation to our Fund.

So, my mum sourced for the zippers and proceeded to sew the 20 pencil cases.

Here are the 20 pencil cases, each one uniquely different and special with a hand appliqued animal.

And the pencil cases are made from remnant cloth and the applique designs from remnant felt. Only the zippers were specially purchased.

This is a special one for the teacher!

Dear Sis KY,

As Sunday School was off on 5/10/14, yesterday I talked to my pupils about World Animal Day which was celebrated on 4/10/14. I showed them slides of some outstanding rescues which I had had the opportunity to assist in their rescues or�healing�or adoption. I told them about the dark histories of each animal and how their life changed because someone took the trouble. They also learnt that animals bring so much happiness to their adopters, to the sick and to the children. In order for them to remember this auspicious day, each pupil was given�a pencil box. I told them that the canvas bags (given to them earlier this year) and the pencil boxes were sewn by the 81-y-old mother of the founder of AnimalCare (a friend of mine) to raise money for the neutering/spaying of stray animals. They were impressed. I told them to promise to do something for a stray animal at least once in this year. Many of them think that it will not be a problem. I hope this will be the beginning of their�adventure with helping stray animals. Thank you to you and�your mum�for always coming up with ideas of unique gifts with animal motifs.

P/S: Attached is a photo of my pupils and their priceless pencil box. Half of the class was absent�probably because they were caught in the road closure due to the Std Chartered run.

P/S: One pupil even asked for an extra pencil box because she said her sister had been bugging her for�her canvas bag and paw print t-shirt (given earlier this year). Unfortunately, I do not have enough to spare. I told her to tell her sister to wait till she becomes my pupil
