It is often time tragic enough for an owner to abandon his pet, but worst when the pet abandoned is sick and old.
Colby, a pure breed shih tzu came to our shelter in a very poor condition. There was a big wound, filled with maggots on his right eye and cataract on his left. His vision, sadly, was nothing but a blur.
SPCA SEBERANG PERAI, being a no-kill shelter took him in, hoping to rejuvenate and give him a 2nd chance.
Colby was sent to the vet where he was boarded while receiving treatment. Unfortunately, we have indeed underestimate the seriousness of his injury.
Apparently, the infection caused from the wound had affected his nose and lung. He has developed upper respiratory infection which bring in flu like symptoms and coughs. And due to his old age, the vet need to handle with care the dosage of medications provided to him. His progress need to be monitored on a day to day basis. Until he shows some response towards his medication, his survivor rate is only 50%.
Colby sits in his kennel everyday, looking sad and alone. He starts shivering when he heard unfamiliar voices. He is absolutely clueless of his surroundings. His blur vision makes him a panic freak and snapping at unknown strangers that touches him. He is not a fierce boy at all, but just protective of himself, after what he has been through.
We still resemble high hope in him to recover. We hope that our regular visits will give him the will to fight against his illness.
If you happen to pass by Venice Vet any of these days, do drop by to say hi to Colby.
Your lil’ action may just make his day and cheer him up…a bit.
Wishing Colby a speedy recovery…
Blessings from SPCA SEBERANG PERAI’S TEAM
