Cat rescued from a ledge, this morning (7 Oct, 2014)…

A cat owner alerted us to her cat being perched, for some time already, on the ledge of her 4th storey apartment block in Bedok Reservoir.

Our Animal Rescue Officers, Cheryl and Dilun, relied upon a catchpole, strategically positioning the noose beneath the cats front limbs and then looping it around the middle. The cat was then hauled from the ledge inwards and into a cat carrier.

It was found to be alright and unharmed, and handed back safely to its owner.

The owner was also counselled about the importance of cat-proofing and meshing/grilling the windows of the home, such that the cat’s unintended escape could be prevented subsequently.

Well use this opportunity to remind pet owners again to ensure the home is adequately and properly pet-proofed to avoid the loss of ones pet(s). Possible grievous injury/harm could also befall the escaping pet.

Members of the public can, likewise, help us to help any injured, sick and/or distressed animal, by calling our 24-hour emergency hotline at 62875355 extension 9, any day, any time. Clear emergency cases would be given top priority.
