ONE LITTLE TOWN RAISED $1,350 FOR UKRAINE’S DOGS!
We had an absolutely incredible surprise last week when we heard from a Canadian man named Marc Baur who decided to do something BIG to make sure that the animals at shelters in the Ukraine will not be hungry or cold this winter.
“Our small island community of Bowen, which lies off the coast of Canada, has embarked on a 10 day campaign to raise funds for the Donetsk shelter,” Marc said. “Our little local newspaper ran an article and photo about the cause and we have donations jars out throughout the village. We also have a silent art auction happening through out this week at the library.”
Pictured here you see Marc and his dog Charley and also two dogs in whose honor a very large donation came through. All together, the town raised just over $1,350 in what is certainly one of the most moving and powerful community efforts we have ever experienced. Marc now has plans to potentially widen the campaign to a larger region.
We are thankful to March and to all the residents who pulled together to make sure that we can provide enough food for all the dogs and cats at the three shelters we are sponsoring. At a time when mortar shelling and machine gun fire are still raining down and adding particular danger to the shelter in Donetsk, we are deeply indebted to the people of Bowen.
