I thought we were going on an adventure when they put me in the car and drove me far from home. �We don�t want you anymore,� they told me, but I didn�t understand.

I am 8 years old now, no longer the young boy I once was. Many of my teeth have fallen out and I am completely blind. My name is Highland.

I was frightened when they opened the car door and dumped me on the street. I stood rooted to the spot as I listened to them drive away. It was only then I understood.

Night-time fell. I had no idea where I was, nor could I see what was around me. I heard packs of angry dogs barking and cars speeding by in the distance. Terrified, I lay down and wondered when my owners would return.

I don�t know how long I�d been there when a kind lady found me and took me to the Soi Dog shelter. Thanks to some special Soi Dog supporters, I am safe now. Their monthly donations are funding my care and medical treatment.

My story is just one example of the suffering endured by stray animals in Thailand. Please think for a moment of the ones whose stories you�ve never read, whose photos remain unseen.

As you read my story, there are sick and injured stray dogs and cats out on the streets, with nobody to help them. Just a few dollars a week could change this situation for so many.
