Updates On 4th Oct 2014

As of August 2014, Soi Dog Foundation has reached a milestone of over 71,000 dogs and cats sterilised since our spay/neuter programme began. This has had a significant and positive impact that is obvious on the streets.

In addition to our work here on the island of Phuket, we are frequently called upon to run mobile sterilisation clinics elsewhere in the country.

We recently received a request from local people in an area called Baan Chang, in Rayong province, over 600 miles from us. The locals wanted to arrange a mobile sterilisation clinic at a local temple, for the resident dogs and cats, in addition to community dogs and cats.

Soi Dog worked with the chief of the village and the local population to carry out a mobile spay/neuter programme, sterilising a total of 122 animals (92 dogs and 30 cats) over two days. Following the success of these clinics, the district authorities confirmed to local residents that they will make provisions in their budget for this programme to be carried out annually. The local people also fundraised to help Soi Dog cover some of the costs involved.

Soi Dog firmly believes that the only effective and humane way of achieving our objective of population control is to spay and neuter dogs and cats, thereby preventing the birth of so many more that would go on to suffer death by starvation, disease, injury or inhumane methods of culling.

However, all of this costs money. Drugs and other surgical supplies need to be purchased and trucks and fuel need to be paid for. The donations of Soi Dog supporters are essential to this work – we have nothing else.

Please sign up to help us today so that we can continue this important work and prevent any more dogs and cats from being born into a life of misery. Please visit http://www.soidog.org/en/spay-neuter-program/ to donate.

Thank you.
