Tommy was rescued from the street and adopted by Norsidah and her family when he was very young, perhaps about 4 years ago.
Tommy was sent to our vet last Thursday and was diagnosed with very severe kidney failure. His urine was absolutely clear (like water) and the blood results showed complete kidney failure, which is terminal. The vet suggested that Tommy be put down but Norsidah refused, so Tommy was put on drips. The treatment plan was to go on drips for three days.
Norsidah and her daughter, Qila, practically camped at the clinic every day. They love Tommy so much and they would talk to him, put him on their laps and let him sleep.
Mary and I went to see Tommy too, if only to provide emotional support to him and to Norsidah. Since there was nothing left that allopathic medicine could do, Mary brought echinacea and I brought Noni Enzyme. We left the leaflets with the vet to determine if these two supplements could be used on Tommy, perhaps not to cure him, but to make him more comfortable. CP went to do healing for Tommy too.
Tommy, on Saturday.
Tommy was discharged after three days, still in a bad state, and was expected to pass away anytime. The vet said there was no harm feeding him the echinacea and the Noni Enzyme.
And what do you know.....love heals.
Norsidah, Qila and their entire family showered Tommy with so much love and care every day. Chombi, their other cat, also cared for Tommy. Both Tommy and Chombi are FIV+, but Chombi's blood test showed she's fine.
Today, Norsidah and Qila brought Tommy back to the clinic for dialysis.
Whatever it is, Tommy is still alive (which is already a miracle), and Norsidah and Qila says he can eat on his own now (which is wonderful) and he walks around the house and is even naughty again.
Here's Tommy this evening....
Qila says "dia tengah merajuk" because he was caught and put into the carrier, and he doesn't like it.
Norsidah stays in Ampang, which is MILES away from Subang Jaya...and yet they will dutifully bring Tommy all the way for treatment.
Love truly heals.
Remember our vet always says healing consists of 30% medication, 30% the vet's contribution, 30% the caregiver's contribution and 10% something higher than all of us.
We hope Tommy will continue to recover, slowly but surely.
Whatever it is, time is relative. Tommy is receiving lots and lots of love and that's all that matters now.
P.S. Tommy showed no signs of kidney failure except for weight loss. So, please do monitor your pet's weight.
