We paid Sammy boy a visit over the weekend, and were we surprised to see the little fella recovering so fast and being so active!

Apparently, this escape artist succeeded in running off once last week from the fosterer's house by squeezing through a very tiny hole, jaywalking around the area and keeping just enough distance so that the breathless fosterer in hot pursuit could never reach him. After almost an hour of running and coaxing and bribing with food, she finally managed to corner and pounce on the boy who was obviously enjoying himself. What a naughty fella he is!
From our visit, we saw that Sammy's wound has healed tremendously, and the hole was much smaller than the original gross, gaping maggot wound that resembled a battlefield. According to the fosterer, Sammy has great appetite, barking to demand food as well as when he needs to go do his business.

The funny thing is, he has this unique Mono-Syllable Bark. He never barks more than once in succession - yes, just a short, loud "WOOF" and he will pause for like half a minute or more, glancing around before launching another powerful WOOF, as if he was deep in thought strategizing on what to say next.
This brave fella is not afraid of the fosterer's other dogs many times his own size and barks with might and courage using his unique mono-syllable woof. For all we know, he could be challenging them to duels like David picking a fight with Goliath. Of course, the big dogs didn't bother giving this tiny pea a second glance and totally ignored him. He would also excitedly bark to protect his food (although the other dogs never had the slightest intention of eating his), and clumsily overturning his bowl in the process.
Sammy is more open to human affection now, and loves getting his head touched and cheeks massaged. He still shies away when we try to touch his body, probably due to the traumatic injury at the back of his neck or past abuses. We also bought him a little present - a nice thin mattress, which he loved instantly, sleeping and sitting on it so comfortably!

Optimistically, Sammy should be ready for adoption in 2 to 3 weeks' time once his wound has closed properly. We are confident that we can find him a good home as this boy is just so cute and charismatic. See him once and you'll fall in love with this fella!
We would like to sincerely thank the fosterer for all the love, care and attention she has given to Sammy boy, providing him with a really comfortable environment to nurse his wound and enjoying a speedy recovery. A big thank you all the donors that have contributed towards Sammy's medical treatment too, giving him a new lease of life.
Here's a word of thanks from our Sammy boy...
WOOF! (a single bark only, of course)
