Did you know, ‘Tuesday’s animal trivia@ACRES!’
Hawksbill turtles are native to Singapore!
The mother turtle would come onto shore at night, spending about 2 whole hours digging a hole in the sand; that is safe enough a distance away from the tides before laying her eggs. After which she would make her way back into the oceans again?
Hawksbill turtles have been known to have one of the most beautiful translucent looking shell and hence they often fall prey to poaching. Humans use their shell for jewelry for example. Besides that, the homes of these turtles are threatened by human activities as well.
Do you think we should protect these turtles and their home? How do you think we are able to in our own ways?
