Devi texted me yesterday morning with the sad news that Cindy had passed away.  If you recall, Cindy and Stuart are the two kittens we were desperately trying to find a fosterer/adopter for because the rescuer was going to send them to the shelter.  Shelters have a policy of putting down very young kittens and puppies because they will probably not survive in the shelter environment.  Cindy and Stuart were only 3 weeks old.

The first person who responded to our race against time that day was Devi Narayanan, who, although already have so many cats, could not bear to think of the two kittens being sent to the shelter, so she offered to adopt them.

Devi did send them to the nearby vet for a check-up and was told all was fine.  Cindy and Stuart both had diarrhoea and that's always very dangerous for young kittens.

Devi says she feels really bad that Cindy could not be saved, but we all know Devi would have done her very best and given all she has got. Furthermore, Devi was the first person who responded to our call for help.

Stuart is fine now.  His stools are becoming more solid, and we hope the diarrhoea will stop in due time.

Devi sent these photos last night:

 This is Stuart.

Devi says Stuart is now very lonely, but he still has his green bunny for comfort.

 You stay strong, Stuart.

In loving memory of Cindy.

Maybe Cindy's life as a kitten was destined to be a short one.  We take comfort in that she did not have to die in a shelter, but she passed on after receiving a lot of love and care from Devi.  The time interval may have been short, but the encounter is priceless.

May Cindy be in a better existence now.

We hope Devi feels better now.  Stuart still needs her love and care.
