SPCA has just been alerted to this “KILL STRAY CATS” flier. This has been distributed at the recent Singapore Night Festival.

We urge all members of the public to DISREGARD the aforementioned notice’s instructions.

Under the ANIMALS & BIRDS ACT, any form of cruelty to animals will render the offender liable to a jail term of up to 1 year, a monetary fine of up to S$10,000 or BOTH.

We urge all institutions and groups in Singapore to uphold the sanctity and value of animals’ welfare and wellbeing. Also, all public groups are reminded that cruelty to animals is NOT tolerated or condoned in Singapore. We ask that the group responsible for this notice be mindful of how COMMUNITY CATS – a more apt term for “Stray Cats” – are an integral part of our ecosystem ultimately.

We thank Voices for Animals for alerting us to this notice. We will begin our response to this with this Facebook post first….
