Silent Waters remembering the Tsunami…
Many thanks to film maker Mike Thomas for his support of Soi Dog. Many of the great videos you see on our Facebook page are produced by Mike and are very effective in raising awareness of the plight of homeless cats and dogs in Thailand.
Mike is currently making a film centering on the impact the 2004 Tsunami had on the villagers living on a small island in the Andaman Sea.
Check out Mikes Silent Waters page here on Facebook and give Mike a big page Like for his support of the dogs and cats of Thailand.
2004 was a most unlucky year for Soi Dog with co-founder Gill Dalley losing both legs from rescuing a dog from a flooded field. Then, 2 weeks after Gills release from hospital the Tsunami struck.
With the eyes of the world on the region over 50 volunteer vets arrived over the following 3 months and Soi Dog worked around the clock operating clinics not only on Phuket but throughout the region. At one point 3 clinics were running simultaneously and Gill was fully involved although wheel chair bound.
