Glue Board Traps claim yet another victim. And we appeal to all companies (including factories) to STOP using glue board traps!

Just yesterday night (August 6, 2014), our rescue officers were despatched to Gul Circle, Jurong Industrial Estate, to rescue a distressed kitten stuck atop a glue board trap.

Our team, with the caller’s help, sought to get kitten freed from its predicament, relying on a fair extent of manoeuvring and a great deal of cooking oil to do the trick. The kitten was rushed back to our shelter, and had to undergo another round of glue removal from its body. Looking disheveled but relieved, this little cutie would be up for adoption or fostering once its ready and strong enough! We are confident that a loving family out there would open their hearts and forever home to this real sweetie! We will post an update here once this kittys up for adoption/fostering, so watch this space!

As we refer this matter to the AVA, we appeal to all (businesses and individuals) NOT to use glue board traps as often, unintended, non-target animals (like kittens) would be caught. Fortunately for this kitten, we got there in time. The same can’t be said for many other victims of these inhumane traps.

We cannot stress enough the need to stop the use of such traps. Read http://www.spca.org.sg/animalwelfare_details.asp?id=112 for our stand, and help us in our fight against glue board traps! We are relieved to know there are indeed socially responsible companies – like Japan Home stores (which have recalled glue board traps in view of the animal cruelty involved). We appeal to all businesses/factories/industries to look to other methods of pest control, so that unintended, innocent animals would be spared!
