Egg poachers are one of the many challenges faced by Turtle Guardians. Field biologist Ooi Ying Cheing tells us of his experience with the types of poachers he has encountered:
“Here are a few types of poachers that I can think of:
1) The ones who are usually friendly, but not so friendly when there is a turtle
2) The aggressive ones, like the one who “kidnapped” a turtle, put it inside his car, sped off and forced the turtle to lay her eggs in a location that he had secured, and
3) The strategist who makes fake turtle tracks on the beach to disrupt and delay our patrolling efforts.”
We need to deploy more Turtle Guardians to patrol our beaches as egg poaching becomes more rampant. You can help us do this by donating at http://pandashop.my/turtleguardian/
