My name is Donte and I am a 6 year old boy. I have lived my whole life on the streets of Phuket, Thailand and have never had an owner to care for me.

I was managing to get by until I got very sick. When I was found by a man called Khun Sanae, he could see how much I was suffering. He is an Animal Rescue Officer with Soi Dog and he picked me up and raced me to the shelter.

I was examined by the vets and they said I had something called an inguinal hernia. This meant that I had a lot of swelling in my groin area and I was in a lot of pain. The vets are going to do something called surgery now, which they say will make me better. I am so happy they found me.

All of this is thanks to a special group of people called the Emergency Response Team. These are Soi Dog supporters, who live all over the world but care very much about the street dogs and cats of Thailand. Without them, I would still be out there, alone and in terrible agony.

There are many other street animals like me, with no owner to take them to the vet or to care for them. These animals truly have nobody to turn to but you.
