We want to say a “BIG THANK YOU” to everyone who heard us and shared what the reality is behind a very simple ‘Elephant Ride’ for the elephant. Today we continue the story that probably marks the start for many of the elephants you see in entertainment today. Let us trace it all back to how that ride was made possible and let us share this endless beginning.

A ritual called ‘Phajaan’. In this ritual, baby elephants are taken away by force from their mother’s side shortly after birth. Their wild spirit is broken over a period of 7 days. As the baby elephant screams for the mother, this is the last time he or she will recognize their mother ever again.

Humans bounds the baby’s limbs so tight and drags it into a cage so small it cannot turn it’s body. Sticks with nails for e.g. (Bull hooks) are drilled, poked and slammed into its yet adult body. This never stops with no food and no water. What walks out of this cage, if he/she is still alive, on the 7th day is a baby who has lost it’s soul.
