WWF-Malaysia is happy to support a recent initiative by MENGO – Malaysian Environmental NGOs (https://www.facebook.com/MalaysianEnvironmentalNGOs), a coalition of 24 environmental NGOs in Malaysia and established by the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment (NRE). (For more information on MENGO, refer to www.mengo.org)
Call the “Waterful Sharing Campaign”, this effort aims to raise 60K to help install rainwater harvesting tanks in three charity homes and they are:
1. Trinity Community Children Home (22 orphans)
2. Shelter Home for Children (19 orphans)
3. Praise Emmanuel Children Home (17 orphans)
The idea of this campaign is to reduce the reliance on piped water for these homes, and also to provide an alternative source of water to the homes, especially in times of water crisis which severely affected the home and the orphans.
The rainwater harvesting that we intend to install will be channeled to their bathrooms and toilets, garden and also outdoor washing area, and this is a small step to alleviate the home’s financial status on water bills.
We hope you can support this campaign in two ways and they are:
1. By donating to the campaign and every ringgit helps as we hope that we are able to raise the 60K needed for three homes; OR
2. By volunteering and supporting in kind such as donating clothes to the homes, gotong royong during the day of the rainwater installation and so forth.
We aim to raise enough money to install the rainwater harvesting tanks between 13-14th September, right before Hari Malaysia, as a gift to the three homes.
Thus, we look forward to your support to this effort.
