Spay & Neuter For Street Animals In Turkey
Tweet |
For three years Harmony Fund has been sponsoring volunteer work in Avsallar, Turkey where there is a large population of street cats and dogs. It’s a 365-day-a-year job to feed the homeless animals here and is led by Manuela Wroblewski, a native of Germany, who frequently rescues injured animals and hosts an international adoption program.
Cats greatly outnumber dogs here. You’ll find them hiding in bushes, begging near the tables of open air restaurants and even sleeping on rooftops. But they are not welcome here and are often targeted by oncoming cars, pelted with rocks and deliberatley poisoned.
In July, we’d like to engage in another spay/neuter campaign to round up as many street animals as possible and to have them altered so that they will not continue to bring more homeless animals into this world, particularly in a community where violence towards animals is so pervasive. We would be very, very, very grateful for donations to help in this effort.
