4 POLICE OFFICERS SAVE OVERPASS DOG FLEEING FIREWORKS

Looking down onto a blur of cars on a busy Kansas highway, four Wichita police officers saved this German shepherd pup.

The Wichita Eagle reports an officer was writing a ticket near the overpass when he spotted the dog, now identified as Harley. Apparently Harley had been frightened by backyard fireworks and fled.

Four officers worked together to pull Harley from the ledge, but in an instant, the dog broke free and was on the run again. Instead of shrugging their shoulders and moving on, the officers showed real heart – using their squad cars to pursue and eventually corner Harley..

Thankfully this photo on social media quickly led to a reunion between Harley and his worried family.

Animal Rescue Chase

The Great Animal Rescue Chase celebrates the art of animal rescue with a worldwide race to rescue one million. It’s a free event, open to all, and is perhaps the only global animal rescue event aimed at helping any animal in distress, anywhere in the world. Our ambition is to create a culture of enthusiasm and pride in animal activism. We believe in teaching, by example, that there is a hero in each of us just waiting to be unleashed. Empowered animal lovers can not only save lives, but build the momentum for powerful animal welfare reform.
