Pet owners who are apartment-dwellers, please MESH UP!
Of late, we have witnessed a disturbing and rising trend of dogs and cats, from higher-floor households, falling to the ground – either gravely injured or meeting a premature death.
Such mishaps could have been avoided, had the owner also taken the NECESSARY precautions. As a general guide, we urge all pet owners to ensure that pet-proofing is in place by ensuring the installation of proper grilles or wire-meshing on the windows (and doors) to prevent pets from falling / slipping out.
If we truly love our pets, we would not risk our pets escaping our homes / falling out of windows, only to be abused or in serious danger. Failure to take the necessary precautions for your pet’s safety is tantamount to NEGLIGENCE!
In ensuring responsible pet ownership, SPCA also requires that all adopters provide proof of their respective home being pet-proofed (and properly window-grilled / wire-meshed) as part of our adoption screening processes, before we approve of that adoption.
Do refer to these, for more information:

Let curiosity NOT kill the cat, or dog! Keep them out of harms way, please!
(Cats may actually fall out an open window by simply chasing a bird flying out the window; dogs, for that matter, may actually get spooked by the sudden sound of thunder, then leap out the window, unknowingly.)
