We are pleased that Lye Huat Gardens in Malaysia has closed their zoo and surrendered the animals to the authorities. Conditions at the zoo were some of the worst we saw during our extensive surveys of zoos in Malaysia and the welfare of the animals was severely compromised. There was little opportunity for improvement, so we believe closing the zoo was the best course of action.
JITRA: A private mini zoo here that could not meet specifications drawn up by the wildlife authorities decided to surrender all its animals to the Malacca Zoo and the Paya Indah Wetlands in Selangor.
