Hi everyone, thanks for your concern on the video of the puppy that was the victim of such heinous cruelty. The SPCA, like you, finds such images extremely disturbing and distressing. We hope to stop the occurrence of such acts and bring the perpetrators of animal cruelty to justice. The internet is rife with images, videos and sites depicting animal cruelty. Often these are promoted by the perpetrators themselves or are created simply for shock value. Such footage is often meant to incite and upset others and increase traffic to their sites (and more advertising dollars) knowing well-meaning people will forward them on. Many abusers have been caught after flaunting their crimes online. In the case of this video, as it appears that it was shot in the Middle East, the SPCA has referred the case to People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA). However, in the future, if you discover any online visual content involving animal cruelty, please notify an international animal welfare organisation such as PETA by emailing them at info@peta.org, including the url details in the email. Do not repost it to friends, mailing lists or forums. Ultimately, mass emails and postings only increase the number of visitors to a website, encouraging the site's creator. Thanks again to you all for helping the animal welfare cause!
