Might We Achieve A Breakthrough With You, Mr Zurik, Sir?

Over the last two days, I’ve observed Mr Zurik touching noses with Daffodil, Ginger, Vincent and Rosie.

Yes, even Rosie! And this historic phenomenon was observed last night. I couldn’t believe my eyes!

Is it a mind over matter, I don’t know….

Breakfast was early this morning and Rosie had crossed over to the playground to meet her friends, so she was late.

We were all still waiting for Rosie, but everyone had already finished breakfast by then.

This becomes a tricky situation because when the latecomer eventually comes back, everyone would have conveniently “forgotten” that he/she has already had breakfast, and would look at me with those “And why am I not getting some food? Why are you only feeding her/him???” look. It always happens, and no matter how you tell a cat, “Excuse me, Sir/Madam, but I just fed you five minutes ago, you mean you don’t remember?”, it doesn’t work because a cat views the world differently from us. If we apply our human reasoning to a cat…that’s well, not exactly very smart.

A cat is a cat and that’s that.

Soon, Rosie came back…and the tricky situation begins….

Rosie: You fed the rest without feeding me??

Me: Well, you came back late, Rosie and I went to call for you at the playground but you didn’t hear me….

Rosie: You fed the rest without feeding me?? How could you??

Bear in mind, it IS my fault, because I had given breakfast EARLIER than usual today, and cats, let me tell you, can tell the time with such precision, to the millisecond, more accurately than any Swiss watch you have across the centuries.

So, of course I have to feed Rosie…

But she “tengah merajuk” (sulking) and refused to come to the patio, so I had to feed her where she was…

Food was served…but she either was still “tengah merajuk” (sulking) or she was afraid of Mr Zurik, I really don’t know.

So, Mother-of-the-Year, Daffodil, goes to accompany her daughter to ensure she would be safe.

I think, from the body language, Rosie still afraid of Mr Zurik, despite the nose-touching episode last night.

Meanwhile, Timmy was whining at Mr Zurik when Mr Zurik tried to touch noses with him.

Timmy: We�just want peace and please, please, please…don’t destroy our peaceful patio community, please…

Mr Zurik:�? ?? ????, ? ??? ?? ????????

So yes, there IS a communication problem since Mr Zurik only speaks Cat-Russian.

Rosie is afraid and jumps onto the window ledge, her food unfinished.

You stay at the patio, Mr Zurik. Please?

At the sight of Mr Zurik approaching, Rosie fled to under the car so I had to bring her unfinished breakfast to her.

Mother, Daffodil, accompanies her. Isn’t Daffodil a perfect mom?

I kept Mr Zurik at the bench…

…while Rosie eats.

Our KGB-cat, Mr Zurik, the misunderstood one.

I still think a breakthrough is possible…somehow. It might help if I learnt Cat-Russian, no?

I’m a good boy, I am.

Yes, you certainly are, Ginger.

Meanwhile, I hear cat-fight sounds inside…

�Oh my goodness, Indy has gone mad – he is attacking Tiger!!

Wait a minute, Indy IS mad, isn’t he?

And so, life is never boring when you have cats, especially if you have 14 of them!!
