Pet stuck behind a parapet
Our Animal Support counter received a call, just last Friday night (June 20, 2014), about a cat that has somehow been trapped behind a 3rd floor parapet, since that very morning, and unable to come down. This incident took place at a public housing block in Choa Chu Kang North 6.
Our rescue pair, along with a few Town Council officers, was quickly despatched to the scene, and found the tortoiseshell-coloured cat trapped in the space behind the parapet.
The officers relied upon a catchpole, along with some strategy, to help lure and haul the cat into a carrier, lifting it out of its ordeal.
Apart from appearing jumpy, the cat was found to be alright and unharmed. As it had on it a collar (incidentally inscribed with its owner’s residential address), it was promptly returned to its owner (from the same block).
We thank Adlin, our caller, who alerted us to the distressed cat, as well as the Town Council officers that have helped in this rescue attempt. We also take heart in the fact that the pet cat’s owner and address could be identified, all thanks to the collar! The sheer importance of putting an identification means on one’s pet animal, like a collar in this case, should not be underestimated.
Members of the public can, likewise, help us to help any distressed, injured and/or sick animal, by calling our 24-hour emergency hotline at 62875355 extension 9. Clear emergency cases would be given top priority. Do also refer to this page from our website, on how you can help: http://www.spca.org.sg/services_animal_rescue.asp
